New Zealand after their first innings horror are facing a second consecutive innings defeat against the Proteas. The visitors lost four wickets in their first innings and four more in their second innings during the third day’s play of the Second Test at the St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth.

New Zealand are in an embarrassing position for the second time in their Test Series against the formidable World No.1 South Africa. Chasing the Proteas’ first innings total of 525 for 8 declared, the Kiwis slipped to a disastrous 47 for 6 in just 24 overs.

South Africa are nicely set up to pile up a huge first innings total in their second Test at the St George’s Park in Port Elizabeth. Run machine Hashim scored his 19th Test century to take the Proteas to 325 for 4 on the opening day’s play after Graeme Smith had won the toss and elected to bat first.

The Cape Town Test was nothing short of a nightmare for New Zealand. They were bowled out for 45 on the opening day of the Test and from there only one team was going to win the match, despite an improved performance from the Kiwis’ batsmen in the second innings.

Vernon Philander has been ruled out of the Second Test at Port Elizabeth against New Zealand because of a hamstring injury. Philander’s absence will be a big boost for the Kiwi batsmen as the seamer had wrecked them apart on the first day of the Durban Test for a paltry total of 45.
